African Art and Antiques The most recent additions to our international art collection are exquisite pieces of African art, most from West Africa. In Summer 2011 we also were in Kenya and Ethiopia, so we now have Ethiopian Orthodox icons, Kenyan jewelry, tingatinga paintings, and other African art. Most of the art pictured here is from Mali, Ivory Coast, or Nigeria. In addition to this wooden table and two chairs, likely belonging to a Mali tribal chieftain, subsequent pages include Tanzanian/Kenyan tingatinga paintings, authentic mud cloths from Mali, masks with animal carvings from Ivory Coast and Mali, and an extraordinary carved granary door from Mali. The chairs and table featured on this page are wood with dark stain, multiple head carvings around the bases (all intact), and inlaid copper with copper tacks. The chairs and table are $750 each, or $2,250 for the full set.
